Lab Worker
Laureen Jenson is a third year aeronautical engineering student at the University of California, Davis and looks forward to designing airplanes sometime in the near future. Initially, Laureen considered that aeronautical engineering students were limited to designing rockets and planes, but she has since discovered through working at Otech Engineering, Inc. that the field is far more diverse. Laureen is still committed, however, to aircraft design.
Her passion for aeronautics developed when she was a child and remembers that on her frequent flights to Ohio to visit her mother’s family, she would insist on sitting in the window seat so she could watch the wing of the plane. It helped that Laureen took on a love of mathematics in middle school.
Laureen was additionally influenced by her uncle, who is a nuclear engineer at Sandia labs in New Mexico.
In addition to working at Otech Engineering, studying full time at the university, Laureen regularly sings in the youth choir at the United Methodist Church in Davis, she makes jewelry and is a beginning guitar student.
